SOFO is committed to helping WFU chartered student organization leaders learn to effectively manage their financial resources. Some education is in-person and some is delivered in digital form.

In-person Officer Training (mandatory)

Required officer training is now an in-person session that will last approximately one hour. It is mandatory for all club presidents and treasurers at the beginning of each academic year and must be completed before a club’s money can be spent. If a president or treasurer changes in the middle of the academic year, the new officer(s) must also take this training.

Understanding Club Funds

Several clubs have money available from different places. This course explains how SBAC, agency, and gift funds work – how they work, how they can be used, and how you need to manage them.  Classes should last about 45 minutes.

Travel Training

If your club travels, you need to understand how it works at Wake.  Depending on the size and nature of your club’s activities, travel can be complicated.   Start here by learning the A-B-C’s of travel and learn how your club should work with SOFO to get your club where it needs to go!  Classes should last about 30 minutes.

Drop-in Q&A sessions with SOFO

Everyone has questions.  We’ll try to have answers – at least about your club finances.  SOFO staff will be available for general or specific questions about your club’s needs.  Plan to come on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday if your questions are about dues collections or online sales.  Sessions will be available throughout the year, and you can also drop by the SOFO offices or schedule a one-on-one session.
