Online Ticket Sales and Event Registrations

Whether you plan to sell tickets for a concert or party, or accept registrations for a home tournament or conference, SOFO has you covered. Student event ticketing will now be offered through Cvent, an easy, secure, online solution for student group online ticketing or registration needs.

How to Request Online Ticketing

  1. First, you’ll need to have a few pieces of information in place before we can begin to set up your sale. The “What, Where, When” piece of planning an event. (BTW, did you know the Office of Student Engagement offers event planning meetings?)
  2. Next, decide what your ticket strategy will be. One price? A “limited time” pre-sale price? “Day of show” pricing? How many of each type will be available? When will they go on sale? What will the prices be?
  3. Finally, decide whether you will pass on the sales tax and online ticketing fee (5% of pre-tax total) to your buyers. (For a discussion of this topic, see this page.)
  4. When your plan is ready, download and complete the Cvent Online Ticketing Worksheet for Student Orgs. Save this as a PDF with your name and organization name.
  5. Have you created a flyer or logo for your event? Have a PDF copy of this ready as well. If not, you can provide one later.
  6. Finally, register your ticket sale with SOFO. You’ll be asked to upload your ticketing worksheet and graphics as part of the registration process.

Once we’ve received your registration form, we’ll be able to create an online ticket sale for your event. If we have any questions during the creation process, we’ll get in touch, to assure the sale meets your event needs.

Once the sale is live, you’ll receive regular reports showing your sales.

How to Request Online Event Registration

A wide variety of different types of events could require an online registration process. For this reason, the request process is a bit more open.

  1. Begin the request process for an online registration as soon as your event details are relatively solid: event name, location, dates and pricing.
  2. Decide whether you will pass on the online registration fee (5% of total) to your registrants. Also consider what your refund policy, if any, will be.
  3. Have you created a flyer or logo for your event? Have a PDF copy of this ready. If not, you can provide one later.
  4. Register your event registration with SOFO. You’ll be asked to provide a written description of your event and upload your graphics as part of the registration process.
  5. When we have reviewed your request, we’ll contact you with questions. It is our goal to work closely with your group to make sure Cvent meets your registration needs.

Once the sale is live, you’ll receive regular reports showing your sales.

In addition, when your event date arrives, SOFO can provide you with equipment to check in attendees and accept credit card payments at the door.
